COLORCOAT HP200

manufactured and coated solely by British Steel

Colour HP200 is Corus's roofing and cladding steel with a 200 micrometre (nominal thickness) high-performance plastisol coating on a Galvatite hot-dip zinc coated substrate to BS EN 10147.

The standard reverse-side coating is a specially formulated two-coat protective system of corrosion-resistant primer topped with a heat cured high-performance polyester. It is suitable for most internal environments.

Specifying: Colorcoat is the registered trademark for the organic coated steels manufactured solely by British Steel Strip Products. Colorcoat HP200's formulation and testing are unique, including an exacting test programme designed to ensure maximum worldwide durability. It now bears a discreet brand on the reverse side of the sheet. You should specify Colorcoat HP200 and check for the brand mark to ensure you are not getting ordinary plastisol coated steel.

Colours: Colorcoat is manufactured to produce consistent colours, but by the very nature of colours, some slight variation can occur between coils coated at different times. If tonal consistency is critical, all profiles for a single elevation should come from the same production batch. This applies to all Colorcoat, but variation is more noticeable in light colours, particularly white and metallic finishes. Indeed, such colour variation between batches is characteristic of all coloured products, from wallpaper to steel cladding.

If accessories in other materials must Match Colorcoat, then the best reference is the colour of the Colorcoat profiled sheet as delivered.

Some of the colours on this page may not be as readily available as others; early consultation with the profiler is the best way to ensure that the material you select will be available at the required time.

Performance: The performance of Colorcoat HP200 is defined by the Period to Re-Paint Decision, which is the length of time before a building owner needs to consider whether to re-paint the cladding. At the end of this period, for any single plane, i.e. one wall or one roof slope, not more than 5% or 100 square metres of the paint surface, whichever is the lesser area, will be affected by paint flaking. To determine this period for the surface of a building, select the Group Colour Code for the colour of the cladding and use that row of data in the table below. Given a regular maintenance programme, the life expectancy of Colorcoat cladding is forty years or more.

Notes:

1. This table applies to the area of Northern Europe defined as zone 1 in Corus's publication Colourcoat HPS200. This literature also contains recommendations on the use of Colorcoat HP200 in other parts of the world. Ask Corus for literature.

2. The figures in this table are guaranteed for buildings in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland subject to the terms set out in the published guarantee, which is available from Corus.

3. Figures under the Coastal heading are for buildings within 1km of any coast.

4. Since sunlight has a similar effect on all orientations of a low-pitched roof, there is only one column of figures for low pitched roofs.

5. Since the reflected sunlight and salt spray in a coastal area can affect a wall of any orientation, there is only one column of figures for walls in this environment.

6. The Period to Re-paint Decision begins from the date the material is delivered to site, but not more than 18 months after manufacture by British Steel.

7. Any one flashing detail, i.e. the whole detail rather than one section of it, takes the worst-case orientation, which is at the discretion of British Steel.
